• The purpose of this Panel Discussion was to talk through, with the Panellists and external contributions, the overall process of exporting services and to generate information and ideas that would be helpful to those currently exporting and to the many others who ought to be. We want to create a platform for future structured action.
  • We were very fortunate in having a Panel of exceptional knowledge, experience and business skill – Lord Green, Baron Green of Hurstpierpoint; Susan Caldwell, Director, Financial & Professional Services, Department for International Trade (DIT) and Marco Forgione, Director General of the Institute of Export and International Trade . We are grateful for their support and for the mine of information made available and accessible through this Project.
  • The Position Paper. We thought that a useful start to this would be to produce what we described as a Position Paper as a basis for the debate. This is a synopsis of the key statistics – vital underpinnings to any meaningful debate about exporting Services. This is published as an Appendix to this Paper. Please note that we see this Paper as up to date as at 8.7.20. Certainly, things will have changed since then with some figures changing and new ones becoming available.
  • Zoom recording of the Event. Those who export already want to find out how they can do it in greater volume and more efficiently and those who don’t export want to know if they can. Or do they? The overall message coming out of this Online Debate was that there are no silver bullets, no quick fixes, no shortcuts in the successful exporting of services – indeed if anything – time and effort needs to go into the process of collecting relevant information and talking to a wide range of organisations to put together their own plans.
